Taking notes while reading is helpful for many reasons.

1. It reminds your brain of what you are reading.
2. It allows you to look back at the important parts of what you read without searching through the whole book.
3. It makes you think about the material you are reading more thoroughly.

Taking notes while reading is helpful because then you are able to go back and refresh your memory of what happened or how the people in the story felt when a certain act happened and page numbers to go back to to something you think will be useful later when you take a test or something
